D.A.A.

Calculating Areas

D.A.A. has the provision to store two types of area calculations at once. For example, Cut and Fill, Water and Land, Sea bed and Oil, etc.
The two types are selected by clicking the two 'paint cans' in the toolbox. The types of area assigned to these are set via the menus. Both types of area can have up to five sub-types as shown in the example below.

DAAtypes

All these types can be easily configured to the user's requirements.

Once the area types have been entered (which can then be saved as the defaults) it is simply a matter of clicking on the 'paintcan' for the area type required, then double-clicking on the area of the image which it applies to.
To take a hypothetical example, let us say that the lower triangle of our image is a Fill of Rock, and the layers above are to be Cut from topsoil. Using D.A.A., the result would look like this:

DAAresult
Note how D.A.A. has distinguished the two types of area my marking them orange and green.

The results of this can be printed, sent to a spreadsheet (not supplied) or simply viewed. The results are stored as a list giving details of every separate area and as totals. These are obtained by clicking on the 'Calculator' tool.

DAAcalc
These results were found using a calibration of 9 sq.m
